William R. KugelmanWilliam R. Kugelman is a partner and leads the firm’s Business Law Division. Mr. Kugelman handles a diverse practice that includes transactional law and commercial litigation. Mr. Kugelman takes pride in understanding each client’s business and the industry within which it operates. This focus translates to effective and cost-efficient business management and dispute resolution.
Mr. Kugelman has been practicing law since 1988. His vast experience allows him to provide a
complete package of legal services to our corporate clients. He has provided legal services to sole-proprietorships, partnerships, corporations and limited liability companies, whether large or small - - local or global. He assists clients with the formation and management of business, commercial real estate transactions, asset acquisition, joint ventures and mergers.
Mr. Kugelman is also a seasoned trial attorney who has handled commercial litigation matters for over twenty years. His experience includes litigation involving complex commercial transactions, shareholder claims, partner disputes, non-compete and unfair competition claims, franchise disputes, employee loyalty disputes, and construction litigation. Mr. Kugelman’s experience is also not limited to New Jersey state and federal court. He has served as lead trial counsel in complex business matters throughout the country.
Mr. Kugelman is an avid baseball fan who combined his passion for the sport with his legal skills. His clients include professional baseball players from the United States and Dominican Republic. He has negotiated player contracts and has arbitrated players’ claims before the Office of the Commissioner of Major League Baseball. Mr. Kugelman has also counseled and advised draft-eligible amateur athletes on contract issues and negotiation strategies, and has lectured on the topic of compliance with NCAA regulations.
Mr. Kugelman graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Pace University in 1985, and he graduated from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1988.
Mr. Kugelman served as a member and panel chair of the New Jersey Supreme Court District XII Fee Arbitration Committee from 1998-2002 and also served as an adjunct professor at Montclair State University in the Legal Studies Department.
In his spare time, Mr. Kugelman enjoys spending time with his wife Judy and their son Joey, as well as coaching travel basketball and youth baseball.
